For as long as I have been a Christian, All I have ever heard is people talking about reaching the lost and people having this false humility and compassion for people. But when I entered Christianity, i quickly found out that its really not what they say it is. I quickly found myself feeling "holier" than others and judging others for the lives they have chosen. I felt like I was much better than others. I was passionate about pursuing this holy life and becoming this super holy guy.........till I really got to know Jesus.
Mark 2:17 - On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a
doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but
sinners."
Sometimes I sit back and I really wonder what this whole christian thing is all about. Are we just supposed to sit back and try and become a better person until Jesus comes? or are we supposed to spread the love of God to those who really need Hope. This world is cold and cruel, and all people in this world are looking for is hope. Isn't that why we needed a messiah? Because even we, the Christians needed to be saved from the despair that we were living in. Jesus clearly shows me that he came for the "sick" and he came to call sinners. We say we want to reach the lost but our churches show the opposite. All you see these days is people trying to be clean whilst there are millions out there who need hope and we don't even take time to reach them and give them hope.Church growth is measured by numbers and not by the lives that are being brought to and transformed by Christ. I would rather have a church filled with messed up people because I know they are in the right place, than a place of empty "godly" people.
My life's ambition is to be like Dr. Jesus and reach the sick and hopeless so that they to can boldly declare that "by his stripes we were healed". Lets bring hope to the world not judgment and condemnation.
